Only a short drive away from the 17thCentury Punakha Dzong, the Amankora Punakha resort is set just outside the town of Punakha. Converted from an old farm house once owned by the Bhutanese Royal family, the Amankora Punakha makes use of the traditional architecture of the area. The resort has a great spa which is perfect after visiting the Dzong or making use of the other activities the resort offers like mountain biking. This particular Amankora is our favourite one in Bhutan.
Located outside the ex capital of Bhutan and renovated from an old farmhouse once belonging to the Queen Mother, the Amankora Punakha as with the other properties is a wonderful hotel to stay in whilst visiting the Dzong of Punakha. Accessed via a suspension bridge over the Mo River, the old farmhouse has rustic charm in the dining room and library, whilst the guestrooms are, as with the other properties, amazing.
