This emerald tropical island has something for everyone – whether it's trekking through the rainforest to see primates, looking out for green turtles laying their eggs on deserted beaches, overnighting in a long house with local tribes, rafting through mangrove swamps watching for crocodiles, enjoying a Borneo family holiday, strolling around bustling villages, or simply enjoying a white sandy beach at a 5-star luxury resort.

The two Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak do offer differing experiences for your Borneo holiday; with Sarawak having much larger areas of National park allowing for more long term multi-day treks and also having a strong tribal culture giving you the chance to visit longhouse communities to give you a real insight into the life of tribes that once were known to be 'headhunters'!  Both states have fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities but it is perhaps in Sabah where there are more luxurious properties as well as the challenging but hugely rewarding climb of Mount Kinabalu, one of South East Asia's highest mountains and a great inclusion in a Borneo family holiday.  The beaches and marine life of Sabah are fantastic and we here at Asia Odyssey can recommend some idyllic beachside spots which would be ideal for a luxury Borneo honeymoon.
