The Rajvilas, built in the style of a traditional Rajasthani fort, is a typical Oberoi property delivering the very highest standards of accommodation and service. Rooms and suites (including 13 air-conditioned luxury tented rooms), all with marble bathrooms, are set in 32 acres of lush gardens with fountains, pools and flowering trees. Located about a 45 minute drive outside the city of Jaipur, this resort is elegant, relaxing and tranquil.
Samode Haveli, located in the heart of the old town, is one of the few boutique hotels in Jaipur, and has been created by the same family who have converted the Samode Palace just outside Jaipur. Coach tours often stop at the hotel for lunch, but as the hotel does not take overnight tour bookings the evenings are kept quiet and intimate. This hotel is a good base while in Jaipur.
Previously the official residence of the Maharaja of Jaipur, the Rambagh Palace is steeped in history and evokes the splendour of royal India at its best. This architecturally stunning hotel, which has been beautifully renovated by the Taj Group, is set in 47 acres of ornamental gardens dotted with peacocks, and offers luxurious accommodation and gracious hospitality.
The Trident in Jaipur is ideally located right on Mansagar Lake and near the famous Amber Fort. It isn’t lavish or splendid but is a comfortable, good value option if the opulence of the palaces isn’t your thing.
Located on the Delhi road to Jaipur, the Samode Palace is an ancient Rajput-Mughal palace restored in the 1980s by the Samode family and converted into a beautiful luxury hotel with a lovely warm family feel to it. Still retaining many of the original features, the palace is sprawling and quirky, perhaps a little rustic in places, and each room is unique. There is no shortage of activities available, including horse riding, camel safaris and village visits.
